Solid fishing is not everybody's idea of a dream vacation. We have wives and children to think about and sometimes we need to cater to the needs of others and that is why I've put together some other options. Plus, who doesn't need the adrenalin rush of a Costa Rica canopy tour or the thrill of white water rafting.
Costa Rica in particular as famous for its national parks that are chock full of wildlife, in fact Costa Rica has been dubbed the most biologically intense place on earth by National Geographic Magazine. The number of species of animals, fauna, insects, reptiles, birds and rodents that call the rainforests and cloud forests their home is far greater than those any other place on earth. While in Golfito, check out Corcovado National Park and the world famous sport fishing.
Canopy tours are the signature tour in Costa Rica. They are a fantastic way to see the rainforest up close and at the same time have one of the most thrilling rides of your life. A canopy tour consists of platforms attached to trees, big trees, with a cable running from one platform to another. Each individual wears a harness similar to rock climbers, which is then attached to the pulley on the cable. Now it is just a matter of stepping off one platform and arriving rapidly at the next. Wow!
There are several horseback riding tours available but I use only a few. I only use a tour if their horses are of the highest quality, with each horse being selected for the riders weight and riding ability. There are tours along the tropical beaches and other through pristine rainforest where you may see waterfalls, and who knows what type of wildlife. Every tour is a new adventure.
The thrilling wave runner tours are available in some areas only. While in Quepos, Costa Rica for instance you will tour the scenic Manual Antonio National Park coastline. Some days the playful dolphins will join you in addition to the almost ever present sea turtles. Snorkel equipment is provided in addition to fruit and water, transportation and a life vest. Great equipment and guides make this a must do tour.
Much of Central Americas Pacific coast offers up some great snorkeling and scuba diving. From Central Americas premier dive site, Cano Island, to the islands of Coiba Wildlife Refuge there are diving and snorkeling tours for all ages and experience levels. Click Here
White water rafting is about the most refreshing way to see the jungle. Depending upon where you are, you can decide from a more tranquil ride in the class 2 and 3 range or even up to an exciting class 4 and 5 rapid. In certain areas, mangrove kayaking tours are also available.
The perennial favorite tours are the various dolphin watch tours. The boats, usually sailboats, will take you into the open ocean in search of a variety of dolphin species and even the occasional whale. Many tours also include some time spent anchoring around reefs for some snorkeling and most tours even serve op a hot meal and include drinks and other snacks.
